I hope that all of you have had a great start to the first nine weeks of the school year. It is hard to believe for us here in the Auditorium that it is almost over and we can look forward to the second nine weeks.
As the Calendar moves from September into October, that means we are about to become very busy around here. We have Meetings with Parents and a big meeting with our Seniors in October along with a Choir Concert on October 1st and not to mention six elementary school programs. Our drama department, led by the talented Kelly Webber is going to be weaving the tale of "Charlotte's Web" as our fall play. That event will take place the second weekend in November. Be watching for dates and ticket info. And did i mention on top of everything else,, "American Idol" winner and Conway's own Kris Allen headlines this year's Choosing to Excel Fundraiser which will also include the "Dance With the Stars" and "Conway's Got Talent" competitions. The date is Saturday, October 19th at 6:00 PM. If you want tickets, contact the Excel program at 501-505-8590 or go to www.c2espace.com. Tickets are $30.00 Each. For the latest information on our schedule, be sure to check out the Auditorium Home Page. We
It has been a few days since the curtain fell on the final performance of Disney's "Beauty and the Beast". It was without question the most successful CHS Musical in history. I just wanted to add a few thoughts to the process.
First, I cannot say enough about the way our students performed during the run. I think we knew it was going to be special when we did the final run through of the show and got finished in the earliest time we can ever remember. The acting was superb the music was great and our pit orchestra was just outstanding. To our students congratulations on the great performances and to our Senior Cast, Chorus and Orchestra members, you are going to be missed greatly.
We had a lot of parents that also worked with us during the run and I would like to thank them for all they did, from construction, to making sure the cast and crew was fed (some of the best food we have had for a show!!!) working backstage helping to move set pieces, makeup and also to make sure that everything went well.
I need to publically thank four very special families and that would be the Vanaman, Farris, McConkie and Denton families who went above and beyond the call of duty to make this show a success. I also want to thank Craig Denton for helping me out during the show.
A huge thank you to Tami Jones, who is our Music Bookkeeper and who does so much for our program and always makes our music students and staff feel so special. I cannot say enough about what she does.
I have never thanked our custodians publicly until now. But, i want to thank Margaret and Keith for all they did during the run.
And a final thank you to Sam, A.J. and Tim for the time and effort you put into this show. These three men gave up four months of their lives to prepare for an experience we will all never forget. And remember, all three of these men were also teaching durng the day as well. And kudos especially to Tim who was preparing the CHS Symphonic Band for their concert Thursday Night and to Sam for preparing our Choirs for their concert on May 6th and the Conway Men's Chorus as well. And A.J. being up here way late to help on many things related to the show. Also, thanks to the Student Stage Managers and our great Backstage Crew.
I know that many of you are wondering already what are we planning for next year. We have no idea, but stick around this fall and we will let you know as soon as we know something.
Rehearsals are going well as we are just two weeks away from opening night for Disney's "Beauty and the Beast". It has really been great to see this come together piece by piece. And now, as we are headed for the turn, we will be extremely busy over the next two weeks turning reality into fantasy. I hope you are making your plans to be with us.
On Wednesday, we officially turned over the Auditorium stage to begin the preprations for Disney's "Beauty and the Beast." Over the next three weeks, there will be rehearsals and construction going on as we prepare to transform the stage into a place of magic and fantasy that young and old will love. I also got to observe some of the rehearsals on Wednesday and let me say I am already impressed with what our students are doing. Our directors A.J. Spiridigliozzi and Sam Huskey are really making this a labor of love. Plus you add in the Orchestra to be directed by Tim Cunningham and all our backstage help, this is going to be quite an undertaking. We will keep you updated with little snippets of info from time to time. But, m
With the Easter weekend here, normally it would be a quiet weekend for us in the Auditorium. But, this weekend, we are going to be very busy as we welcome Antioch Baptist Church for their Easter Sunday services at 9:00 and 10:30 AM. The reason why they are having their services with us is they have been having services in their activities center with the expansion of their worship facility. We are very happy to accommodate them and welcome them. Please leave the Handicapped parking spaces for those who need them and do not park in the circle. If you need to drop off people in the circle and then park, you are more than welcome to do that.
After we are completed with that, then we welcome Theodore Jones Elementary 1st and 2nd Graders for their program on Tuesday Night. Starting time is 7:00 PM. Doors for the general public will not open until 6:45 PM. This was done at the request of the school so they could get the children into the building first and make sure they are settled down and ready for a great program. The program will be directed by the school's new Music Specialist Allyce Johnson. The program is free and open to the public.
We will have a couple of closed events and then it will be time to get ready for the Disney musical "Beauty and the Beast". We are very excited to have this classic on our stage and once tickets go on sale, they will probably go fast.
Have a great weekend and don't forget to "Like" us on Facebook and "Follow" us on Twitter.
It is hard to believe that in less than 3 months, we will be on vacation and enjoying summertime. In the remaining three months, we are going to be very busy. Tonight, we have a wonderful program featuring the Julia Lee Moore 3rd and 4th Grade Students. The title of the program is "Americans All--A Musical Celebration of America's Multicultural Heritage" by Cheryl Lavender. Music
Specialist Bryan Cole and his students have put together a great program which will conclude with one our own personal favorite songs, "American Tears" written by well known children's music author Teresa Jennings. The program will start at 6:30 PM and you are invited to attend.
After we come back from Spring Break, we will have our final three elementary programs for the year, Antioch Baptist Church will be with us on Easter Sunday, our Music Department will be getting ready for Disney's "Beauty and the Beast", and there will be the normal load of music concerts, awards programs, CAEC Graduation and Dance Recitals before we close out for the summer on Saturday, June 8th. Be watching the home page for information on all the upcoming programs and also for "Beauty and the Beast" tickets..
We have had a lot of fun the last two days with the students at Marguerite Vann Elementary when they have their Second, Third and Fourth Grade Music Program tonight at 6:30 PM. Music Specialist Jana Hefner has prepared her kids well and it is going to be a lot of fun. Join us in the Auditorium. Doors open at 6.
We would like to extend congratulations to all the students who were inducted as new members of the Conway High School Chapter of the National Beta Club. We also would like to thank their sponsors Mr. Chad Terrell and Mrs. Carol Clark for all their help.
